The covid-19 epidemic has gripped the entire world in fear. India has reported a total of 67152 cases as of Monday (10:00 PM, 11th May). Following the 3rd phase of lockdown and social distancing as a preventive measure, many health centres have suspended OPD and non-emergency services.OPD footfall of many private hospitals that was in thousands per day has fallen to zero.
While the closed OPD doors have created a new problem for the patients with the need for regular monitoring, many private hospitals are struggling to pay the staff salary as OPD footfall has became nill.
To ease the pain of hospitals and patients as well as to ensure the smooth consultation workflow, mCURA Smart OPD has come up with a hybrid form of Physical OPD + Virtual OPD (Video-consultation). Both can work independently or in combination based on hospital’s requirements. While the virtual OPD provides easy access and on-demand Video-consultation from the comfort of homes, patients who require physical examination can avail the physical consultation. Hospitals can define the protocol for physical OPD appointment eligibility as per their policy & SOPs.
mCURA’s Hybrid Model of Physical & Virtual OPD has already been implemented at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, and all payments are made through online mode. This avoids long billing counter queue & physical cash/card exchange. For virtual OPD appointments, patients can book through the hospital official website / mobile app (ios/android.) This system makes sure that the restrictions are put as preventive measures for COVID-19 and to ensure social distancing.
How Does The New Hybrid OPD Work?
Virtual OPD Workflow
# After Selecting the Doctor you want to consult with, click on the timing of your choice from the available slots for proceeding with the booking.
# Enter your details and click on the Fix Appointment option to proceed for the payment.
# The Popup menu for the payment will appear with your prefilled details and consultation fee after clicking on Fix Appointment Button. Select the mode of payment of your choice and make the payment
# After the successful payment, you will get your Login Credentials to upload any reports or old prescription for the doctor’s review. You will also get your Hospital ID for faster form-filling next time. The Same will be provided in the form of SMS notification also.
# Before the consultation, the patient can upload all the medical records and previous prescriptions for the doctor’s review.
# Finally, at your scheduled time, the doctor will call you to initiate the video consultation. You can join through your smartphone using the Patient App (IOS/Android)
Physical OPD Workflow
# The patient can call dedicated customer care support for scheduling the physical OPD consultation.
# The call center gets the list of available slots of all the doctors. If the call center finds that the patient needs physical OPD consultation, they can select the slot of the patient’s choice and send the payment link for proceeding with the booking.
# Patient will receive the payment link in the email id that they provide to the call center staff. They need to click on the link to open the payment page.
# The link will open up the payment page with prefilled details about consultation timing, including the details of the patient and the doctor. Click on the Pay Now button and make the payment through your choice of payment mode.
# After the payment is successful, patient appointment booking gets done automatically on the pre-set slot. The doctor and the call center have the rights to block the appointment if needed.
# While patients may bring physical medical records, they are advised on uploading the document online. Hence there will be no need for a physical touch with the medical reports. They can upload the medical documents following the access link that is provided after the appointment confirmation.
# The patient can arrive at the hospital at the scheduled time for the consultation. If due to genuine reasons, either the patient or doctor is unable to unavailable, then the patient can send the name and id to email@example.com for the refund.
# After the consultation session, the patient will get a printed prescription summary only if needed. For maintaining social distancing, they can download the prescription with the access link provided. The same record will also be available in both the Patient and Doctor app
After a patient has successfully registered for the Virtual OPD consultation, the doctor can see the list of all bookings on the Queue Screen or Booking Screen in the mCURA Doctor App.
Only the Doctors can start the Virtual OPD consultation session from their device. They can click on the video call icon on either of the booking or queue screen to start talking to the patient.
After the successful consultation session, the doctor can upload his/her prescription advice through the web or mobile app (ios/ android). The patient can download and show the PDF for purchasing medicine from the pharmacy.
The doctor can see the payment status for all the consultations made on the payment screen in the Doctor App.
The patient can contact firstname.lastname@example.org for a refund. We will process the refund only after the doctor’s approval for both virtual and physical OPD.
